my year in reviewTuesday 30 December, 2008

A year on the blog has come to an end,
so i write to you now in hope that i send,
This message of thanks which i type from the heart,
to help me prepare for the New Year which starts.

A great year it was, as i cast my eye back.
I can absolutely say that i gave it a crack.
Oils, acrylics and a landscape or two,
a brand new series called Le Donne in Blu.
January passed with not much of any art,
just goals that were written to ensure a good start.
Frightened, scared, limited computer skills too,
0 8 and my thoughts made their official debut.

Protestations voiced, no names will i mention,
his words of support, no doubt of good intention.
Motivated, inspired and ready to show,
perugina was prepared to give it a go.

The year slow to start kicked off with a nude,
acrylic in brown ‘bodacious’ the review.
My first work in progress a vase that was black. Some florals, gums, and a lady sitting back.

Now March was exciting a series anew,
eight watercolour ballerinas made their debut.
Prima, Brava and Curtain Call made,
Encore, Stanca and Si Riposa now stayed.

Pink tulle gowns and points, performed pirouettes,
for the people who watched them, they’d never forget.
As they danced on Arches which served as their stage,
in various poses their audience engaged.

A holiday was had in the midst of all this,
Soldiers Point where i stayed made painting such bliss.
My passions indulged here were indeed smart,
a crab meant for pasta was turned into art.

Blue Swimmer for Dinner,a painting unknown,
of seagulls on sand,
and thongs left unowned.
This holiday a creative person’s delight,
painting and drawing from morning till night.

April and May were the busiest by far,
there were pumpkins, watercolour ladies
and miniature jars.A day spent with David,
obsessions with vintage themes.
The people on forums,
no doubt did they scream,
‘No more perugina for we’ve seen enough!’
Of vases and miniatures, we need some new stuff.
So off i did go to do my own thing,
to see what new thoughts
i would have now to bring.

What to do with my ballet girls dancing in pink.
A book for little girls was what I did think.
Le Belle Ballerine is now a nice book,
for those who not know, i ask you to look.

June saw the start of the gums without trunks,
leaves painted yellow and green missing chunks.
Concerned that they looked like sardines from afar,
asking all those i knew to view how bizarre.

July had me enter my first major comp,
i knew i should try and give it a shot.
A Sculptor called Alan he wondered around,
and thought that my crab looked quite safe and sound.
To my utter surprise was given a commended,
all in all i thought it quite splendid.

July was a month meeting artists of note,
see Workshop in Oil with John Wilson unquote.
There was Alan at the Annual and Artist’s Palette magazine,
where my Watercolour Ladies featured for me was a dream.

Coco Kiss in August wins another award,
my gorgeous girl i’m sure in Heaven applauds.
i miss her still for she was my mate,
here at home as i painted her company great.

August sees other surprises in store,
a commission of sorts too hard to ignore.
Announced later on and to work i must tend,
for extensions aren’t granted and time i must spend.
There are series known and ones that debuted,
Watercolour Ladies and Instruments that continue.
Suggestions for some to feature on mugs,
To those all i say is, i smile and i shrug.

My blogs there are many and some are now private,
To view these my mates are only invited.
My works there were many created this year,
Last count i think 50 perhaps more it's feared.
i would like to see these together in one go,
i hope you like the above slideshow.

A lover of Norman sees me painting a God!Two graphites, an oil and then art comes to a halt.
My furry boy Buffy not well he does fair,
with everyone helping with thoughts and their prayers.
Thank you

With the year closing fast i’ll have to be quick,
with the clacking of keys and mouse that i click.
To upload this poem which reviews this past year,
i thank those that helped me along you’re so dear.

It’s now i make mention the support i have known,
thus far on my travels in art that has grown.
Sandra and Nick and those on AAF,
you know who you are
i’m really quite blessed.
Wayne, Sweetmango to V and to L,
Helm i still apologise for i thought you weren’t a girl.

My new friends from bubble,
Rose, Philip and Peter,
Renate and Rory who couldn’t be sweeter.
There’s Jared who helped me with blogging and stuff,
Freda, Anni and Marion i thank you so much.

Cheryl, Joel, David who pop by now and then,
Mimi, Ayie, and Mauro my Italian friend.
Wendi, Srishti, Amy and Noel you’re so kind,
i hope i haven’t left anyone behind.

There are many to thank behind the scenes,
who offer support and that go unseen.
Their comments and support are equally valued,
And to them i simply say...

Thank you.
i’ve had a great year and goals i’ve fulfilled,
some were surprises and on skills I did build.
In prep for my next adventures to have,
on this path that I follow with the Gregory’s i’ll nav.

My eyes open wide i’ll be ready to learn,
more excitement no doubt with each and every turn.
With paper horded and brushes in hand,
i look forward to 0 9 with what it has planned.

Who knows what's in store,
just hope i don’t bore.
i thank you all for being here,
and i look forward to seeing you all next year!

(((HUGS & LOVE)))

i would like to thank and mention those here,
in no particular order but dear.
Each in their own giving support in some way,
be it love, friendship, in my thoughts they will stay.

Thanks for making my year great.

That was wonderful!!! What an epic poem and such patience to continue undaunted to the end!! You are a better person than me PG, I would have given up in trying to find so much rhyming inspiration.
May your New Year be filled with comendations, prizes and red dots!!
Happiness, smiles, laughter, cuddles, fur on your favourite dresses and couches and secret cat cuddles in your bed. Blooming flowers surrounding garden gods upstairs and down and wonderful nights on the town. French dinners and handsome italian singers. And last of all..good health for you, Mario, the cats, et al!!!
Good lord it is contagious LOL LOL LOL

What an epic sweetmango,
always right from the start,
I thank you I do,
from the bottom of my heart.
You’ve always made time to visit and smile,
With the words that you write,
no mistaking your style!

Your friendship I’ve cherished, since meeting you here
And hope in 0 9 you will stay with me near.
Your blog I will visit in the New Year I hope,
By the way she asks…'Did you get that soap?'

Just asking, don’t know,
it’s been a wee while,
I’ve been ill you see it was really quite vile.
I know you’ll understand
my absence of late,
I’m convinced you will,
‘cause you’re a great mate.

Thank you for your wishes for 0 9 next year
I appreciate them greatly you’re so very dear.

Happy New Year and wishing you every success in everything you choose to follow.
Love to you and yours

PS...It is contagious,
LOL...LOL...LOL...Can't seem to stop.
Better go now before it's a ---- (fill in the blank)
French dinners and Italian singers - I'm with you here,
and now I will email you the rest!

Wow you had a very busy year, and its taking all my effort not to reply in rhyme! I loved reading your post you're such a sweet person. Best of luck for the coming year, wishing you many artistic milestones, many learning curves, and most importantly many smiles to alight upon your face!

What a wonderful tribute to your year and all those who were part of it.
I am in awe of your energy and the breadth of your creativity.
Well done dear friend!
May this New Year bring you love, peace, joy and continued creativity!

Sandra your known by these names on the net,
Sandy, Wilsonontehan and MrsWillow
all I’ve met.
Your support is far reaching
in Aus and abroad,
I tell you I am,
the one that’s in awe.
Your friendship I cherish
so very much,
To have you on side
I feel is such luck.
On the skype we will talk
in this New Year that’s here,
Sipping red wine
or perhaps a light beer.
Love you.

Jade you’re so sweet and I’ll never forget,
The same forum we followed, for that’s where we met.
Embarrassed I was, not wanting to boast,
My face was so red which could've cooked toast.
Join in with the rhymes if you want I don’t mind,
It’s rather quite fun with the words that you find.
Your art is amazing, you’ve found your voice,
No matter what name you have as your choice.
Your friendship’s been awesome and wish you the same,
All that you have written plus half price on frames.
(((HUGS & LOVE)))

Vesna you're sweet to pop into here,
So busy it is, this time of year.
Your friendship and love you've shown me of late,
I’ve come to really appreciate.
Amazing I’m not, you’re being too kind,
I wish to you also for 2009
All things wonderful and much art that’s great
So off to it now there’ll be much to create.

What an awesome way to sum up the year. Your ballerinas are gorgeous and make a very sweet book. Hoping your Buffy is well and that you have a productive and creative 2009! Grace and Peace, Nora

A wonderful artist
Nora Sallows her name,
How could I forget her,
now that’d be a shame.
I cherish the portrait
you painted for me,
Of that ‘killer chinchilla’
by the name of Buffy!
So glad you popped by
to wish me a year,
That I hope will be those things you specified here.
Pop in when you can
and I’ll come 'round too,
To see what you’re doing
and what’s new with you.

Happy New Year and wishing you all good things

Hugs for 2009.

I don’t know how long I can keep up these rhymes,
All I can say that I thank all the times,
You’ve popped in to provide support of late,
Wendi I really appreciate.
Your whimsical art I love and admire,
You are one that truly inspires.
Your floristry created by day must excite,
Through night your imagination in paintings ignite.
I will visit your blog just as soon as I’m able,
With the aid of my coaxial cable :D

Happy New Year (((HUGS)))
Wishing you also a wonderful 2009!

Thought I'd write something cute, but almost don't dare.
You never quite know,
who's reading, or where.
So I'll let you wax comic, wistful,
and arty,
I'll clap my hands loud, and join in the party.
If something's in need or want to be said,
I'll gather my thoughts,
and Skype you instead.
Just watch for the pop-up,
that says you have mail.
It could be a mistake,
it could be a female.
Not a lady, a muse, a dancer or singer,
nor something or other resembling a finger.
No tutu, no cello, no garden, no gum,
Just the happy result from a slip of the thumb.
A photo or file that was sent by mistake,
a faux pas deluxe, from a man half-awake.
So ring in the new year, without fear on your part,
Keep posting those paintings that tug at the heart.
Don't listen to judges, critics, or spouses,
they all miss the point, they're Philistine mouses.
Put the nose to the grindstone, you bella bambina,
there's a painting to finish, and sign "Perugina"!

Oh Nick, when I read this a smile on my face,
I’m glad you stopped by
and the rhymes you’ve embraced.
I’ve come to expect
nothing less from you mate,
you never run circles,
just come out with it straight.
I welcome the Skype
just as long are your careful,
with those files and docos
which could provide eyefuls!
Some earlier nights to call it a day,
so those ‘faux pas deluxe’ you will keep them at bay.
In Australia you know all your fans wanna see ya,
you know who they are,
so I ask you, When are ya?
We can’t wait forever
the clock is a ticken…
I’ll send those big winds so a ride you can hitchen!
It’s always exciting to have you drop by,
with support and encouraging words you supply.
On my toes I am kept
like a dancing ballerina,
your wit and humour
has me laughing like a hyena!
Your advice is like rain
on the land in a drought,
as soon as I’m able
for you I will shout,
a beer, a red wine,
whatever your poison,
Pardon me I forgot,
that the drink you not have none.
A tea, hot chocolate
or an espresso arranged,
So strong it’ll keep you
going for days,
You’ll be able to paint
those fantastic large formats,
Long after the sun
has faded your doormat.
A new year which starts
who knows what’ll bring,
perhaps NNG on those fabled ‘cyclonic winds!’

This poem-post of yours is, I venture to say, unprecedented in the blogosphere! Thanks for putting my name there, and acknowledging so many others, in your epic tome!

[Now then, to keep the 'poem-post' flowing, ummmm, ... ((vacantly staring skyward with Homer Simpson eyes))...blink, blink..]

I can't write, I really can't,
Because (dot dot dot) my un-cle is my aren't.

And besides, I'm standing upside down,
'Down under', and ink won't flow uphill, but rather slides down the sides
Of the sink. Still, might I try to
Write a Haiku, If only I could
Count silly-bulls, but I really
Can't because my un-cle is my

I can't rhyme a word, I can't even spell
Because thyme is a herb I planted to smell.
The little garden is clipped and trimmed
Pruned like a mullet, brittle with gel,
Sable below, Have you paused, heard
Happy bugs buzzing?'ll be soon time to
Spray (with water). I can't rhyme a word
Because thyme is a herb, 'n' I oughta...
Be able!

Happy 2009!
best wishes

Tee hee hee (Homer Simpson eye blink) cute!

Wayne, from the A C T with no coast,
so glad you’ve joined me here on this post,
Remiss would be I, to not mention your name,
encouraging words you provide, I hope the same.
To have you drop in with your knowledge and insights,
included you are, ‘cause it just wouldn’t be right.
You say you can’t write, now I know that’s a lie,
from what I have seen, you’re a pretty ‘smart guy!’
Maths, philosophy, music and painting,
science, medicine, there’s not much remaining.
Time spent on theories and principles in hope,
adding to PON in scale and in scope,
eventually aiding the sick and the failing,
to understand more of the earth, and to aid it.
I wish you the best in the quest that you follow,
like the first men on moon in that ship called Apollo.
The time that you’ve spent writing words that don’t rhyme,
I say don’t you worry it isn’t a crime.
It’s late and to bed I must go so I wake,
So like Nick, I don’t transfer a file by mistake!

Tee hee hee

PS I am really being tested here!
