Naturally after painting the series le belle ballerine I felt compelled to paint a series in
miniature limited to 4.

I need to complete the series with a final addition by weeks end.

I have been procrastinating on this one and have only the centres left to complete.

I'm a little hesitant as up until now i have painted this from memory and now need to study some centres so as not to spoil it.
The inclusion of my little Chocky as suggested by some would probably make for a great addition. I'm seriously thinking about it!

Winsor & Newton have launched a new watercolour called Opera Rose. I have used it to paint an elegant Opera Diva holding a dozen roses of the same colour.

Painted in the same style as the Ballerine. This colour is a very high energy, intense pink, making the blooms and backruns standout even more so.

Perugina...I have really developed into a "fan" of yours.
Glad your still posting here. I see the "trick" with the shadow, nice. And you did a wonderful job demonstrating the forgiveness of the Fabriano paper.
I like that paper too.
I pose a question for you...I like your ballerina's...do you think you will ever do male compliments in shades of blue? That a buyer could have .... sort of a "modern version" of the famous "Pinky" and "Blue Boy" paintings....I would be interested in picking a male/female pair in print or greeting card form...

I like that pumpkin; great thread. You seem to have a great sense of humor!

This is wonderful-thanks for showing.
I'm checking out Fabriano Artistico 140# right now, my first sheet. I agree about being more forgiving than Arches.
So far, I like it. I've heard great things about the 300#, which is next on my list.
Jerry Art Arama has it on sale until the end of the month.I really like your technique with this, the colors glow.

I love the beautiful detail and texture. I have only one suggestion - making the shadow closer to the pumpkin a bit darker.

Love this...such great color. That pumpkin is fantastic!
Yeah, I suppose it could use a darker area of shadow close to the pumpkin but, if you're worried about messing it up, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Great pumpkin painting Perugina!
Although I agree that a darker shadow closer to the pumpkin would be good ...I am listening to Mikes advice too....Pumpkin soup! My recipe is the same as June's. I have just made some! Delicious!

Yeah Perugina!!
Very cool and I think you've kicked it up a few notches too, you should be happy.
At this rate you'll be one of those fabled cyclonic winds from Oz.
More than the value of the shadow, I'm bothered by the bottom of it being parallel to the edge....to my eye it should go out of the picture a bit.
Keep up this new work, it's exciting!

Beautiful pumpkin and I love the background color you chose. The shadow comments are valid, but I agree that if you think you might ruin your lovely painting in trying to change it, I would just leave it as is.

Ok guys..after some time of thinking and then fretting about what to paint and with entries due in soon for theArtist Of The Month Art Forum - Melbourne Australia
a fun event giving all who participate on the forum an opportunity to paint in whatever medium they choose on a particular theme.
It's always interesting to see how others approach the same subject matter.

I thought... just bite the bullet, in this case the BIT and be quick about it!
The Theme for the Month was anything to do with The Races.
So my entry was a quick 10 minute job with the aid of the hair dryer!

I wanted it to be a spontaneous work capturing the speed of the horse on the track with the finishing line in sight!

Using only indigo blue i'm glad that's over!

pink and blue

Bob’s Impressionistic Still Life paintings are full of colour, life and texture and I love this style of painting.

This one titled Pink and Blue painted in oil is from his own photo reference
of a gorgeous coral vine currently in flower in Western Australia where Bob resides.
Initially thinking it was a Bougainvillea.
He has very generously and kindly granted me permission to borrow his photo reference
which caught my eye so i can create my own watercolour work from it.

Thank you Bob!

You can see Bob’s work by visiting Reflections On My Paintings 2008

I have included Bob in my labels titled My Favourite Paintings and Artists Who’s Works Inspire
This is my favourite painting of yours Bob so very colourful and cheerful, and that
blue glass vase is just gorgeous!
If I ever get around to painting my watercolour i will probably call it just that.
'The Blue Glass Vase' and it will serve as a reminder of your generosity, youthful spirit and energy you dedicate to your art.

While holidaying in Nelson Bay, NSW, this painting caught my eye in the caffe restaurant we dined at.
I asked the waitress what the name of the work was and whether the manager would mind if i took a picture of it.

I love seagulls and birds in general, and am always fascinated by them.
I thought I’d post it up and take inspiration from it, just wishing i knew its title.

Frank, i Hope you don’t mind its inclusion here.

A visit to the NSW Art Gallery here in Sydney must include for me personally...
10 minutes of standing in front of this, my favourite work.
I see this work everyday as a large print in my bathroom here at home but to see it IRL is divine.
This British painter, illustrator and designer studied at Dulwich College, then at the South Kensington Schools and the Royal Academy Schools.
His figurative water-colours and oil paintings show the development from late Victorian style to Edwardian post-impressionist techniques.
